Award shows are my favorite. All the energy, glamorous stars and of course the red carpet!!! Tonight, NBC hosted the 66th Annual Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre. This is the first Emmy's hosted on a Monday since 1976, which is a little crazy. Personally, I think an award show on a Monday is the perfect way to start the week off.
There seemed to be a trend towards red hues on this year's Emmy red carpet. I usually don't like red on the red carpet, but there were quite a few I liked this year. They should probably make the red carpet black (it would clash with fewer gowns). Here are my top hits, maybes and misses:
BoiseBombshell Hits:
Heidi Klum looked stunning in this coral gown especially with her perfectly tanned skin.

She looked flawless on the red carpet. Perfect amount of sparkle and skin without being over the top.

She looks amazing in this beautifully ruched gown. I love the bold color on her. Not a big fan of the clutch. It's too heavy for the dress and the red is all wrong...the dress however is perfect on her.

A fresh take on geometric cutouts. I think a belt would've really completed the look.

I didn't' expect to fall in love with this gown, but I did, I just love it. It's so flirty and fun. The layered tulle is perfectly accented by her pixie cut. I really don't care for pink and red color combos, but this somehow worked. I wish she would have picked a different clutch, maybe a silver sparkle geometric piece.

I absolutely love this gown on Melissa McCarthy. It's timeless. I think it would be better for the winter award season, but regardless she looks stunning.

This gown was made for her. Compliments every curve perfectly. Love the bangle. The picture does not do this gown justice. The train was to die for!!!

Oh Julia, you are my hands-down all-time favorite actress, but enough with the short dresses on the red carpet. Its kind of like when people wear short dresses to prom, trend or not, it just seems odd. Some raved about her dress, but I wasn't blown away by it. The color is beautiful on her. I have a thing about "a lot of little things in one spot" which is probably why I wasn't intrigued by these bubble-like beads.

I love the cut and coloring of this gown, but the sash throws the whole thing off. If the sash had been replaced by a silver beaded or metallic skinny belt it would have been perfect. The fit was a little loose for her petite frame, it could have used some better tailoring.

I love this green on her, it was nice to see a bright color on the
carpet! She should've skipped the beaded bangles and added some sparkles
with a diamond necklace and/or metallic belt. Cap sleeves would've been more ideal for
August.

I want to like this dress, but it's a little messy with the draping. This is another look that would have been better for the winter award season. The velvet fabric is completely wrong for August.
