Materials:
2 cans spray paint @ $5.78 each (We used "hammered finish gold spray" from Home Depot)
2 packs doilies @ $3.99 each (Found these in the cake section at Michael's)
12 packs of 3 diameter mirrors @ $1.99 per pack (also from Michael's)
1 steel wire remesh sheet @ $7.98 (Home Depot)
Total Cost: $51.40* (excluding tax)
*We used coupons at Michael's that they post to their website weekly, see here, so with those our total was $44.82 (excluding tax)
A $45 mirror, that looks like the $1,500 mirror I originally fell in love with, YES!!! Here are the steps:
Steps:
Step 1: Cut the steel wire sheet to the size you desire & spray paint (allow to dry)Step 2: Spray paint doilies & allow to dry
The doilies were originally black |
The doilies allowed us to give the illusion the mirrors were "framed" without the added expense
Love the "hammered" look of this spray paint |
Step 3: Hot glue mirrors to doilies & allow to dry
Step 4: Exposing the backside of the wire sheet, hot glue mirror/doily combo & allow to dry
Be sure to hold the wire sheet down to the back of the doilies, until the hot glue is completely dry...my hands were busy taking pictures, pardon the foot assist |
Here's what the front looked like, after gluing a couple:
Completed mirror:
Step 5: Hang mirror & windex
Step 6: Admire ;-)
