Local artists had booths set up exhibiting their latest work. For the first hour or so you got to walk around, meet the artists, ask questions and enter in to win free art pieces. Corey entered into a Jeff Summers raffle and won (of course he did...this man has the most amazing luck I have ever come across). We get our prize photo Sunday (I will post a picture of it). Around 8:30, the show kicked off with 2 films, 2 bands followed by artist introductions. I believe there was belly dancing in there somewhere, but we missed it. Dang! The night was packed with entertainment and although it wasn't quite what I had expected of the evening, we still had fun.

Here's what we wore to the event:
Shirt: Target, Pants: Gap or Banana, Shoes: Zappos |
Hat: Goorin Bros. (in Portland) |
Necklace: Francesca's, Clutch: my grandmothers, Shoes: Vogue via Zappos |
Dress: Michael Kors, Tights: Simply Vera via Kohl's |
Some of my favorite artists of the night:
Mike Bryant - Boise Pro Photography. He put a comical twist on our favorite action figures, see some of the photos here (I will be working with Mike for a March photo shoot...stay tuned for details...)
Maggie McCoy, she uses glitter in her many of her colorful paintings...LOVE!!!
Marc Wolverton Photography (he really tells a story through use of images, loved the graveyard series)
Bonnie Melinda (Obsessed with her "octopus" drawing)
Jacob Cain Photography- He photographed an *amazing* shoot at the Old Penitentiary with a Greek mythology theme, the series is entitled "The 'gods' Have Fallen" (view it here)
Mike Kleinwachter - a one of a kind sculptor who creates some interesting characters, which gave me some perfect Christmas ideas for my brother-in-law (see below)

*Confidence makes anything beautiful, remember it is all in the eye of the beholder, you are as beautiful as you believe yourself to be...
Thanks for the shout out. So glad you two came out and experienced the show. So much variety and talent. Have fun on the vacation and can't wait to photograph and help show off you fantastic styles. Mike
ReplyDeleteThe event was bursting with talent, so glad to see you amongst the local artist. I'm looking forward to our photo shoot. Hopefully I'll get a nice tan in Jamaica just in time for our photo session :-)
DeleteOk, first of all: I love the dress :-) Not everyone can wear white, but it really suits you!
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts on confidence and beauty are so true, and even though I do prefer cocktail attire at formal events, I think this one qualified for all kinds of outfits, since it was all about arts and expressing yourself. Nice!
White can definitely be a tricky color. When I wear a more neutral or softer tone, I often accent with a bold color lipstick or necklace (in this case I did both). :-) I'm glad to see my perspective of beauty and confidence makes sense to someone else too! Thanks for reading. I love getting your comments!!!
