Today marks the 20th annual SAG awards. The award show is presented by SAG-AFTRA, which is basically a labor union for people in the entertainment industry. This award show isn't usually as big as the Golden Globe or Oscars, but definitely still noteworthy. View my 2013 SAG Awards Review here. Then, check out some of the hits and misses of this years SAG red carpet:
BoiseBombshell Hits:
I love the simple elegance of this Marchesa gown. The intricate floral detailing at the top adds just enough interest to the gown, without overwhelming the whole thing. Her hairstyle works perfectly with this look.

Hannah Simone from "New Girl" |
I'm sensing a theme so far...nude tones, Marchesa gowns...what can I say? I know what I like. The scallop detailing on the neckline is stunning.

Elisabeth Rohm |
Although this dress somewhat resembles an elegant nightgown, I love the old Hollywood glamour look. The lips, the hair, the satin, the diamonds...AMAZING. The structured clutch gives the look a modern edge.

Isla Fisher in Oscar de la Renta |
The fit is perfect on her. The earrings, the clutch, her hair...all are amazing!!!

Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta |
Such a pop of color, which is unique for red carpet events. She was one of the best dressed at the Golden Globes as well. See her Golden Globe look here. I love the floral detailing on this gown and the simple lines. The pink lipstick is perfect. The blue eye shadow might be a little too much, I would have gone with silver, but still she looks amazing. Her stylist deserves some serious props! She is quickly becoming the one to watch on the red carpet. |

Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci |
This is by far my favorite look of the night. INCREDIBLE!!! The color, the structure, the cutouts, the metallic accents (belt &shoes), everything about it screams "I am a star!" Blown away by this one. And the hair....I L-O-V-E!!!

Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi |
BoiseBombshell Maybes:
She looks amazing in this dress, don't get me wrong. I love her hair, the earrings, the fit of the gown, the color. So what's the problem right? It's the fabric. What is that stuff? Latex? It looks rubbery. A little too futuristic maybe, but she looks absolutely flawless in it. If anyone can full off this fabric it would be the infamous Miss Lawrence.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior |
This dress is pretty, but it lacks the "Wow Factor." It is very flattering on her and the color is great. Maybe if the belt was beaded with silver detailing? Or if she chose a unique black cuff instead of gold or maybe a statement necklace? It's definitely missing something...

Elisabeth Moss in Michael Kors |
I like this dress, the fit is perfect for her. I love the cuff she chose. If she had just done her hair a little differently. Maybe up? More sleek. This is a very modern look, the hair just isn't consistent with the rest of the ensemble. Fix the hair and you would have yourself a BoiseBombshell Hit!

Mindy Kaling in David Meister |
Love the fit and structure, hate the color. Maybe a navy or royal blue would have worked better?

Jane Krakowski in Roland Mouret |
This look is just too hard on her and much too old. When I first saw this picture, it took me a second to figure out who it was. Abigail Breslin?!? You mean the sweet little girl from Signs, Definitely Maybe and Little Miss Sunshine? Don't tell me she's going through her "Miley Cyrus Stage" of life. The fabric is too heavy and the shrug is just excessive. Her hair looks good, but her eyeliner is on pret-ty thick. She would do better is a lighter color and lighter fabric gown. Maybe ice blue chiffon with a ruby red lip and silver accents? Just a suggestion. I'm putting this is the "maybe" category because it is definitely not the worst thing I saw on tonight's red carpet. She still looks good in the gown, it just isn't the best gown for her.

BoiseBombshell Misses (brace yourself there are a lot of these):
Seriously, what is going on with her this award season? Who is dressing this lady? Her stylist should be fired immediately. Remember her Golden Globe monstrosity last week? (see here at the very bottom of the page). She better get it together before the Oscars. I guess if this were the '80s, it wouldn't be as bad. At least her legs look good.
![]() | ||
Sandra Bullock in Lanvin Two bad Lanvin's in a row. Ouch. This one is not as flattering on her legs.
I actually laughed out loud when I first saw this. Honestly, what went through her mind when she chose this look? She has an amazing figure and for whatever reason it's hidden by this hideous glitter halter thing. She was my best dressed at the Golden Globes and now here she is looking like this. Yuck. |

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy |
Prada always seems to disappoint me on the red carpet. Remember the back of Anne Hathaway's Prada gown at last year's Oscars? (see here). The shirt is much to long and billowy for this petite lady. I don't think baring your midriff is appropriate red carpet behavior. We get it okay, you're proud that you're pregnant. Show is off in Jenna Dewan Tatum style next time instead.
Apparently Julia Roberts is taking styling tips from Reese Witherspoon. Remember Reese's look at the Golden Globes? (see here). Very generic, very "Real Housewives of Whatever City." It is as though her stylist is trying to dress her in young, hip gowns to help modernize her image. Well guess what stylist of Julia Roberts? When you are dressing a legend you should dress her how she is, not turn her into this Beverly Hills Barbie nightmare. The original Valentino would have never suggested a gown like this.

Julia Roberts in Valentino |
The whole thing is awful, but the bottom is by far the worst part... I think...

Emma Thompson in William Vintage |
And to top off the worst look ever: a bow clutch. Yikes!

Meryl Streep in Stella McCartney |
There are no words for this kind of fashion disaster. I wish Joan Rivers were here to insert her comments on this one.

Mayim Bialik in Rachel Livingston |
Metallic disaster.

Alfre Woodward |
The print, the ponytail, the fabric, the gown length and good heavens those shoes!!!
![]() |
Amanda Peet |
The fabric looks cheap and the gown is much to big on her. Maybe a cuff or necklace would have helped distract from the print? This hairstyle is not flattering on her. I like the clutch. This gown reminds me of the print Lucy Lui wore to last year's Golden Globes (see here).

Juliette Lewis in Vivenne Westwood |
There is just way too much going on with this print, though I agree with her simple accessories. Her hair color is terrible is looks like grandma hair. No no.

Malin Akerman |
I saved the worst for last. I'm sure it comes as no surprise to see Mariah Carey on my worst dressed list. The dress is of course too short and lacks any sort of elegance demanded by the red carpet. The nylons really threw me (I believe they are fish nets) and then I saw the gloves...
