What does a bombshell house look like?

Now that award season has settled down, I have more time for things like studying...or even better things like DIY home projects. Just kidding, I have been doing a lot of studying, as well as training for a 10k. I ran/walked 6.5 miles yesterday, which resulted in going to bed before 7:30pm on a Saturday, pathetic. Despite school and training, we've found time for little home projects.

My man and I have kept busy the past couple weeks. We've worked out the perfect system. I come up with a vision and design, then he does all the handy work and I put on the finishing touches. We're the perfect pair, when it comes to home improvement projects.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE having a house! You can do anything you want to it, paint it any color, pick out any theme, it's quite fabulous! We're coming up on our 1 year anniversary of living in our house. We've definitely come a long way from our 500 square foot apartment in Portland, OR. Feeling very blessed to be able to have this lovely house and we've been working hard to turn it into a home.

Project #1: Reupholstered the bar stools

Project #2: Spray Paint the Matte
We had to change the matte from red due to project 3 (see below). Now the matte is a dark metallic, with a hammered texture. It really makes the red dress pop in the picture.

Project #3: Boise Photo Wall
Since we did all our Boise photos with a red matte, we changed the picture on the left wall to a grey matte. We loved this project, minus hand cutting all the frames (thanks honey for doing all of them!). We printed some of our pictures from our favorite places in Boise that we've taken over the past 5 years (the capital, bogus basin, Goldy's, the Idaho Building, the Egyptian theater, etc.). Note the change in fireplace, this was project #4.

Project #4: The fireplace

Project #5: The desk lamp
Inspiration from Pottery Barns Kids
Peony Shade ~$99
My Original Lamp (it had a black base, sorry I didn't get a picture):

After purchasing 3 bouquets from Michael's and a can of spray paint, I redid this lamp for about $25. I LOVE it!!!!

Project #6: The Master Bedroom
Original room
Our tasteful cardboard cutouts ;-)

Post paint and chandelier (Chandelier & headboard from Overstock)
Our new shabby chic room, I am obsessed with our room
Comforter: Fred Meyer, Curtains: JcPenny, Lamps: Target, Shutters: Corey's handy work

I got this comforter are Fred Meyer (we got it for about $80, it was on sale) I was mimicking a look I saw at Pottery Barn (of course) but their version was $160

Hadley Ruched Duvet ~$160
"LOVE" Pillow at Bed Bath & Beyond $19.99 (with coupon)
This bird picture inspired the whole room, love it! (Fred Meyer)

Project #7: Mirrored Table
I have been obsessing over mirrored tables lately. I loved this one on Overstock:
Mirrored Console Accent Table ~$440.99

The problem? I am not willing to spend close to $500 for an accent table. So, we decided to make one.
We bought this table on Craigslist for $25 and sanded off the stain
Primed
Spray painted silver
Corey tried his hand at glass cutting, it took a while, but he got it down
Completed table
We spent spent about $70 on this table project, including the table, paint, mirrors and the knob for the drawer. Note the fabulous chairs purchased from Target for our office. The chairs were pretty pricey, but we could afford to splurge on them because we've been pretty thrifty with everything else.

Project #8 (in progress): The Office
We are currently working on the office, we've purchased chairs (see above), completed a table, painted the room grey, and changed the knobs on the desk. We're still working on a few things, so I'm only giving you a glimpse of a few things.

Like I've said, we've been busy. Right now our focus is on the office and making some pillows for our living room couch. We've yet to conquer the guest bedroom or the bonus room, but all in good time. We definitely have some fun things planned for the bonus room. We'll see what this next year in our house brings.

Be Bold,
Be Brave,
Be Beautiful,

The BoiseBombshell
