Red Carpet Review: 2014 Met Gala

On Monday, stars walked the red carpet for the famous Met Gala. This annual event is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Costume Institute.

Who issues the dress code? None other than the famed Vogue editor-in-chief, Miss Anna Wintour.

As always there were some hits (I am in love with all the blush-tone gowns) and misses (Lupita's fishing net dress) on the red carpet.

Here is a recap of my favorites and not so favorites on this year's Met Gala red carpet...

BoiseBombshell Hits:

Stunning structure, naturally... it's by Posen. This blush hue is amazing with her fire red hair.
Karen Elson in Zac Posen

Another stunning blush-tone gown. The shimmer adds just the right amount of sparkle for this elegant evening event.
Blake Lively in Gucci Premiere

Gisele in Blaenciagna

I hate that I love this, seriously. I considered not even posting it, but this look is flawless. Sophisticated elegance. The hair, the blush-toned gown and neutral makeup is a perfect combination. I like that she with big with the necklace without adding earrings, to avoid being too over-the-top (surprising for a Kardashian relative). This fitted mermaid was made for her long slender frame.
Kendall Jenner

Simple and modern silhouette.
Amazing hair and makeup!!!
Rachel McAdams

Retro hair and gown details. I love the color with her creamy complexion.
Reese Witherspoon looked STUNNING in Stella McCartney

Fabulous layering:
Suki Waterhouse in Burberry

Boise Bombshell Go Big or Go Home:

Her teeny-tiny frame gets lost in this ball gown. The gloves are very 80's prom. I like the detailing on the bodice, but the gloves and hair ruined it for me and her eye makeup was a little too dark. SJP loves to rock the cat eye. The best back about this gown? The back was embroidered in red with the iconic Oscar de la Renta signature.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta

I actually kind of like this one, then again I have always been partial to Marchesa gowns. This gown is just so visually intriguing. Love the strong asymmetrical lines. Having her hair pulled up really shows off the dazzling necklace.
Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa

Posen strikes again with his incredible eye for structure. This gown is to die for. The issue? She blends right into it, which doesn't allow her or the gown to stand out and I think that's something they both deserve a shot at.
Dita Von Teese in Zac Posen

I never thought I would say this, but I think this dress actually makes her look the slightest bit unattractive. Now why would you go and do that?
Kate Upton

This dress is a mess, her hair is a mess and her posture is a mess...at least she's consistent. The mustard yellow is too much of an autumn tone for this spring gala event.
Katie Holmes

Coco Brandolini in Dolce & Gabbana

Again with the fall colors. What is going on? Overall a very harsh look accompanied by very harsh hair and eye makeup.
Donatella Versace

Quite the poof in the skirt there. I wish this whole gown would go "POOF!"
Zoe Saldana

BoiseBombshell No-Nos:

Even she knew this dress was a bad idea. Lupita said she decided against the dress, when Prada first showed it to her. For some reason she changed her mind and went with it later. What is this even supposed to be? Futuristic warrior meets fly fisherman? I am pretty sure Prada can't even explain it. Valuable lesson: always stick with your first impression.
Lupita Nyong'o in Prada

Whoa, that's a lot of gold girl! Is there such thing as going too monochromatic? The metallic is pretty extreme, not the best color on her. I'm not quite sure what is going on it the middle here. I love her up-do though! And her shoes. And her earrings!!!
Lea Michele
I like the faded look, but the ruffles have got to go. The solid elements look like a French maid costume...no no no.
Naomi Watts

I am loving her new hair, but this ensemble screams fall season to me.
Shailene Woodley

Very '90s prom.  These pale tones are terribly out of date. Again, what is with the white gloves? Just because the event is sometimes referred to as a ball, does not mean you have to dress like a Disney princess. Rashida's expression is saying: "I told you this was a bad idea Tory."
Rashida Jones & Tory Burch

Yikes! In so many ways, for so many reasons.
Nicole Richie

Willy Wonka's new cape? Overall this look is terrible. Her makeup is giving her the dreaded "raccoon eye." Where are her arms?
Maggie Gyllenhaal

Lena never seems to know how to dress for her body type. She has amazing curves, but this dress does them no justice.
Lena Dunham

Less is more boys and this is a little much...
Neil Patrick Harris & David Burkta in Thom Browne
