Red Carpet Review: 49th ACM Awards

I listen to a lot of different types of music, but country is by far my favorite genre. Tonight was the 49th annual ACM Awards. The show was hosted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Here's a recap of the good, the bad and the ugly:

BoiseBombshell Hits:

I love the intricate geometrical designs in her dress paired with the classic nude and black colors. The high somewhat-messy bun keeps the look from being too stiff. The brothers are looking pretty sharp as well (minus their hair). 

The Band Perry

I hate that I love this, really I do. Despite my lack of interest in Swift's music over the past few years, her sense of style has started to impress me. She's gone from sweet and innocent country girl in a cotton sundress and cowgirl boots, to a chic sophisticated almost grown-up. I love the puff sleeves paired with the cut-outs on the top. The bare mid-driff and high slit show just enough skin, without being too risque. I am obsessed with the shoes and gold accent accessories!!! Also, her hair and makeup are AMAZING!!!

Taylor Swift

I am in love with her dress. The high contrast black and white print makes just enough of a statement, without being too "loud.". Her eye makeup is incredible. I wish she would've added a pop of color with a red, pink or yellow clutch.

Little Big Town (well half of them...)

BoiseBombshell Maybes:

The lavender color is really pretty on Miss Pickler, but I feel like I've seen this dress on the rack in every department store. It's a little unoriginal. The sweetheart neckline, the ruched top, the color and the sparkle clutch are what keep this one on the "maybe list" otherwise it'd probably be a miss, but she really does look good in it...even if it is an ordinary gown. 

Kellie Pickler

Oh Carrie, I hate when she doesn't knock it out of the park on the red carpet. She is so stunning, but this dress fails to reveal that fact. The color and cut are all wrong for her. Maybe if it was a different color (a bold yellow perhaps...) and a strapless cut it would've made a bigger splash???

Faith's hair and makeup are flawless. I love the color and cut of this dress, but the necklack and clutch are all wrong. I would've done a single diamond drop necklace OR skip the necklace and add an intricate diamond encrusted skinny belt (trust me when you're Faith Hill you can get away with such things).

BoiseBombshell Misses:

This is a belted taffeta disaster. The giant hoop earrings, blue eye shadow and white fingernail polish really help assure it's failure on the red carpet. On a more positive note, Kacey did win "Album of the Year" so she's got that going for her...

Kacey Musgraves

This leotard/spiderweb concoction is all wrong for the ACMs, maybe it would've worked better at the Grammy's??? Even then it wouldn't have made the "hit list." The color is all wrong for the spring and her hair is looking pretty dull. 

Shakira

The color is all wrong for her blonde locks and tanned skin. The seam above the knee really chops up the dress. The bronze clutch makes it looks too autumn-like and the sequins really give it more of a pageant flare. World peace anyone?

Miranda Lambert

Saloon Style + 1800s Nightgown = Red Carpet Disaster

Jewel

I don't know why so many of them still thought it was autumn. This dress screams "fall" among other things. The cut and color is very unflattering on her petite frame. The belt emphasizes the horror of the print. The middle part in her hair leaves the top looking unfinished. Her makeup though, as always, looks perfect.
