Usually the Grammy's are full of glitzy gowns typically fitted and shorter, but this year everyone seemed to step it up a notch. I was pleasantly surprised to see some class at this year's Grammy Awards.
BoiseBombshell Hits:
Incredibly elegant gown, yet still true to her quirky self. The musical notes are oh so appropriate for tonight's event. The girl changed outfits 3 times throughout the evening, but this was by far the best of the night.
Katy Perry Glad to see Miranda Lambert has traded her typical skin tight sequined minis for more elegant plunging v gowns (these seem to be her new go to look for red carpets, see Miranda in a similar style here at the 2013 CMA's). The red is a little over done. A nude gloss and silver metallic clutch may have been a better choice and maybe a little less time in the tanning bed, but I am still loving this dress on her. ![]()
I usually don't comment on the men's red carpet fashion, but I liked the color scheme Darius Rucker had on. Former Hootie and the Blowfish singer, now solo country artist. He won "Best Solo Country Artist of the Year." Woot Woot!!! I wish he would have done a full suit with matching grey slacks, but he still looks good.
BoiseBombshell Maybes: This dress is the perfectly fitted. The color is great with her blonde hair, but the look is under accessorized. If she pulled her hair up she could have stuck with the earrings and added a jeweled belt. Or leave the hair down, skip the earrings and add a multi-tone jeweled necklace.
Lately, I have not been Taylor's biggest fan. Her nationally televised cursing at the 2013 VMA's, her poor reaction to the honest opinion of Jessica Hart at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Despite all that, her dress choice this evening was only half bad. If it had been sleeveless, it might have worked. The silver eyeshadow is overdone and her ponytail underwhelming, but the color and fabric of the dress are perfect for the Grammy's. It just needs to be cut off at the top to rid it of the t-shirt look.
Beyonce's dress was amazing, but a little too revealing. If the lining had been a solid color, maybe royal blue, it would have been perfect.

BoiseBombshell No-Nos:
Lorde's dark lipstick with her black gown distract from her natural beauty.

Lorde More than just a zebra print disaster, ye-up those are actual dueling lions or possums or some kind of creature on the neckline. |

The infamous self-labeled "b-lister" seems to appear on just about every red carpet. This time in not the best ensemble. I do like the metallic clutch. The print on this dress is beyond busy. Pretty sure it is supposed to look like a snake skin print. Why it's blue and why it's on chiffon... no one will ever know. This angled empire waist is doing her smaller bust no favors. She did win "Best Comedy Album" tonight. I am sure she'll be making fun of her fashion choice tomorrow. She is always willing to laugh at herself, love that!

The dress and the shoes are a little too striper-esque for my taste. Her chest is perfect, I am totally jealous, but I don't really want to see this much of it. The dress color is not ideal for her porcelain skin (of which I am also jealous of). Her hair looks amazing, again totally jealous of this too.

This actually makes me cringe. I don't even understand what is going on or what he was trying to accomplish with this look. To make it worst, his acceptance speech was below the bar...way below. The guy has no public speaking skills and still he won a ga-zillion Grammies tonight.

At first glance, I thought this was was Lady Gaga doing one of her "I'm such a super star I don't have to wear makeup" looks, but it's Natasha Bedingfield. Her hair looks completely fried and her bangs much too thick. The dress color washes her out. I am not sure what is happening at the top of this dress. It looks like the bottom of the dress was cut off and put on top.

I hate when country stars show up to the red carpet in jeans. They're trying to come off all "we're staying true to our country roots and back home ways" but really it just comes off as "hey I'm the slob from the south." It really gives a bad rep to all the other country artists who actually want to be taken seriously by the music industry.

Keith Urban He really looked terrible in jeans standing next to his gorgeous bombshell wife, Miranda Lambert. I would have been so embarrassed looking like her and standing next to him. |

Blake Shelton Another offender? Zac Brown and the never ending beanie. Really? Is your head always that cold?

Paris Hilton |
Yikes.

I have no idea who she is, but this dress was by far one of the worst of the evening. Forever 21 meets Spencer Gifts?

Zendaya |
Okay this one was pretty bad too...

Enough with the hair flipping Taylor. You are not a heavy metal rock star. Such a drama queen. I did like this dress though.

Impressed by:
Katy Perry's performance set. Those trees were freaky! Her sets are always entertaining.

Winners of "New Artist of the Year" Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had a humble reaction to winning. Nice to see a them win, especially a duo who did it all. Creating their own record label to record their album all on their own. Impressive. Now their fashion choices are questionable...

Pink's unharnessed acrobatic performance. How she moved around that much and still sang I have no idea. In awe!!!

Kacey Musgrave's light up cowboy boots. (Hate the dress, it's a bedazzeled tasseled disaster, but I love the boots).

Ps- So bummed Sara Bareilles did not win a Grammy this year. She'll get 'em next time I'm sure ;-)
Ps x2 - Missing some major stars this evening: Carrie Underwood, Adele, Nicole Kidman (usually she's in the audience supporting hubby Keith Urban), Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. The "Biebs" was missing, for obvious reasons (read here), but I don't think he was very missed, certainly not by me.
