Our front door has been looking a little lonely these days. Of course I had to take down the Christmas wreath, but I figured it was too early to put up the spring wreath, so there it stood...our wreath-less door...that is of course until I made some time for this fun little craft:
I purchased this burlap ribbon at Michael's. Originally I thought I would use both colors, but ended up only using one. This ribbon was great, but I wished it was wired to allow easier structuring.
I purchased all this at Michael's. There were only a black or white options for the monogram, so I bought some teal multi-purpose acrylic paint to add a pop of color.
This wire wreath was a little bigger than I wanted, but Michael's only had a large and a small option. A medium wire wreath would have been ideal, but I went with the large because I couldn't stand my lonely door one more day.
First tried starting by tying the ribbon to the wire frame, but then I opted for hot glue (quicker and sturdier).
I folded the burlap ribbon and looped it in and out of the wire frame. Then added hot glue where necessary to secure the folds.
I had some left over black and white floral print fabric that I decided to incorporate into the wreath.
I alternated the floral fabric with the burlap ribbon every other section.
To add a pop of color and tie in the color of the monogram, I added a sheer wire ribbon in a matching teal tone.
I admit the wreath is looking a little goofy because it's kind of too big, but I still love it. It's the perfect color palette for this winter to spring transition time.
