After award season ended back in the beginning of the year, there have hardly been any red carpets to review, so forgive me for going a little nuts with this post. What can I say? I've been starved of the red carpet far too long.
The 47th Annual CMA Awards aired tonight on ABC. Although we no longer have cable, I managed to still scour the red carpet for the best and worst looks. Here are The BoiseBombshell "hits, maybes and misses:"
The BoiseBombshell Hits:
Kellie Pickler (classic black, with a little bit of sparkle...true bombshell style)
Miranda Lambert (impressed by her bold color choice and lengthy gown..her style is evolving, so proud. She looks incredible!!!)
Jana Kramer (formerly engaged to Brantley Gilbert, read more here) Love her artistic gown, glad she didn't over-accessorize. Her makeup, hair and skin is flawless)
Kacey Musgraves - Made the "hit" list in the bright sunshine dress she performed in, but made the "miss" list in her red carpet ensemble (see below).
The BoiseBombshell Maybes:
Lucy Hale - love the color, shoes are too clunky for the chiffon fabric, the peach tones and metallic is fabulous. I just wish the dress was more fitted or perhaps belted around the waist with a metallic belt.
Carrie Underwood - It breaks my heart to put her on the maybe list, I love this girl. The fabric is amazing, the cut is perfect, but I don't like how high up the sheer goes. It'd be better without the sheer and cut short, or cut right below the knee (again no sheer). The minimal accessorizing is perfect and if her hair wasn't so stunning, I'd mention how over the Hollywood-glam style, but her hair is to die for.
Taylor Swift- This dress is amazing, truly breathtaking, but not on a 23 year old. Plus, enough with the red EVERYTHING already Miss Swift. We get it. You're album's called "red," you like red lipstick, you like red clothes, you sings songs about red. We get it. You like red. Move on. The album, like the color is so last year.
Kimberly Williams (married to country superstar Brad Paisley, but has made her own name on ABC's Nashville and classic movies like Father of the Bride Part 1&2) The color is pretty, I like the black lines, but the dress is way too big on her petite frame. She looks amazing and I love how she's without a necklace or clutch, but she is drowning in this dress.
The BoiseBombshell No-Nos:
Connie Britton - This is the worst dress of the evening, in my opinion. Sheer cutouts are last years trend, as well as the "peter pan" collar. Then adding the cap sleeves and long hair on top of all that? Yikes! Much too fussy. If the dress was strapless and her hair pulled up with drop ruby or emerald earrings and a bold clutch, this could have been beautiful.
Cassadee Pope - Looks like a young Gretchen Wilson in this picture. The dress, makeup and hair are very harsh looking and come off almost trashy, instead of the edgy/rockstar look she was probably going for. That being said I've had one of her songs stuck in my head for days:
Cassadee Pope - "Wasting All These Tears On You" (love this song, video is odd, not sure why she's swinging in the middle of her apartment, but she has an amazing voice and it's a great song). Now we just need to talk to her stylist.
Charles Esten's Wife the tights were a major let down, but this couple is so sweet together. They seem genuinely happy. Maybe her legs just get cold. I forgive her, they're adorable.
Faith Hill - The Greek goddess look is long gone. There is much too much going on with this dress between the loose fit, the metallic belt and the neck ring...it is simply not flattering on her.
Colbie Caillat A) Why is she even there? B) Isn't that was Miranda Lambert wore on stage last year during the CMA's? C) Closed-toe pumps in a mini? D) Is this the only thing her hair does? E) Makeup?
Kacey Musgraves - I adore her. Her talent and songwriting abilities blow me away. I am so gad she won "New Artist of the Year" tonight, but this dress is terrible. It does not show off her killer long legs and the print is much too old for her. This was her night to shine, but the red carpet stole some of her sparkle in this frock. However, her hair and makeup is perfect and the dress she performed in seemed much more her style. See above.
Laura Bell Bundy - Saloon style gone wrong. The necklace was unnecessary. The makeup too heavy and I'm not quite sure what's going on with the train on this fitted mini. WHY WHY WHY?
Sorry I didn't post any of the country guys this year. I wasn't too impressed by them. The most biggest faux-pas for the cowboys was Hunter Hayes slicking back his hair, such a mistake.
Hunter Hayes - what some may refer to as "boyishly handsome"
Hope you enjoyed the recap of tonight's CMA Awards.
Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Beautiful, The BoiseBombshell
PS- Where was Maggie Rose tonight? I love that girl.
