DIY Fall Decor

Fall is my favorite season. I love the weather, the sweater-boots ensembles and all of the bold fall colors. Every season I try to add to my current seasonal decor with a few DIY projects. With school limiting my free time, I decided to stick to quick and easy ideas this year.

DIY Chevron Stripe Table Runner

Step 1: Create or purchase chevron stripe stencil. I couldn't find one at the craft store, so I made my own using cardstock and tape. I drew a chevron stripe design using a pencil and ruler (measure equal length between high and low points in the stripe to get a well-balanced stripe).

 Cut out the design.
 Piece together cutouts using tape.

Step 2: I used leftover fabric from a baby shower I threw for one of my friends last year. I also used left over spray paint I found in the garage :-) Straighten the fabric and lay the stencil on top. Be careful, the spray paint tends to stray outside the stencil (I found this out 2 stripes in). Lay a paper towel under either side of the stencil, to prevent unwanted paint. When spraying the stencil, get up close to the fabric. To even out the excess spray paint outside the stencil, I lightly sprayed the entire table runner with spray paint from a distance. This kind of gave it a ghostly effect. To evenly space the stripes, I put a paper towel in between.

Step 3: Let dry and decorate!!!
Center Vase (currently empty): Pottery Barn
Placemats: Bed Bath & Beyond (only $1.99 each), Napkins: Pottery Barn, Coasters: Gift, Napkin Rings: Left overs from my grandparents cleaning out their cupboards :-)

DIY Fall Candle Holders

Step 1: Purchase plan mason jars

Step 2: Purchase candy corn for filler

Step 3: Cover bottom of jar with candy corn, then insert candle
Step 4: Fill area surrounding candle with candy corn & tie with raffia (I used some left over from our wedding...3 years ago)

Hope you are all enjoying the start of fall as much as I am. Feel free to post your own fall decor ideas in the comments section or e-mail me with any questions at BoiseBombshell@gmail.com.
