Tonight was the 2013 CMT Music Awards. All the awards are voted on by the fans, which is fun. I love interactive award shows like this one. By the end of the awards, I informed my husband we are moving to Nashville because it looks like a blast. I would like to think Nashville is full of people who only wear cowboy books, talk with a twang and ride horses. So what I traffic in southern stereotypes...haha.
Some of my favorite things about the show?
- Kristen Bell and Jason Aldean hosted. Aldean is not much of a talker, but Bell is adorable. On March 28th, she gave birth to a baby girl, Lincoln (not so sure about that name, I'm still debating, it's definitely a lot to live up to, a lot of pressure for a baby). Anyways, I like Kristen Bell.
- I liked how artists performed not only on the main stage, but also outside the arena, in the street, and even at local Nashville bars.
- During the show there were little pop up bubbles letting you know how many minutes until a specific artist performed.
- Hunter Hayes had an amazing outdoor performance! He is incredibly talented on the guitar. Such a crowd pleaser.
And now for the red carpet...DRUM ROLL PLEASE....
BoiseBombshell *FAVORITE* of the Night:
Hands down, Kellie Pickler. The dress was so flattering on her, loved the dropped neckline. Her hair, makeup and earrings were the perfect amount of glam without being over the top or distracting from the dress.

Carrie Underwood (Oklahoma native) paid special tribute tonight to those who devastated by the Okalhoma tornados. She sand "See You Again" alongside a gospel choir. This is the dress she wore, during the performance. Carrie has also donated $1 million dollars towards relief efforts in Oklahoma. She really is America's Sweetheart. Such an incredible woman (I feel bad you'll see her again on the no-no list below).

Love this dress on her. It had just enough sparkle. Nude tones were huge tonight (as you can see by just about every dress on the BoiseBomshell Hit list). Carrie did a monochromatic nude palette like Kacey Musgraves (see below). I loved her pale pink drop earrings too!

Even though I'd like to see Miranda Lambert break from her usual short and tight dresses, I loved the print on this one. Pretty colors too. I'd really like to see her branch out and try something longer, maybe a more flowing fabric, like chiffon.

Kacey Musgraves is coming into her own in the world of country music. After first writing "Mama's Broken Heart" (performed by Miranda Lambert), she now has a few hits of her own she sings ("Merry Go Round" and "Blowin' Smoke" are some of my favorites). She's currently touring with Kenny Chesney (they were just in Boise last week). I loved how she kept a monochromatic color palette for tonight's ensemble.

BoiseBombshell No-Nos:
It breaks my heart to do this, but Carrie definitely landed herself on the no-no list with this ensemble. First of all what is this? Dollar bills? Buildings? It reminds me of those geometric pastel colored paintings you see in hotel rooms from the 1980s. Anyone? On top of all this disaster the shoes are the wrong color. White or nude, or even a blush-tone would've been much better. She should have pulled her hair up, to show off the neckline and shear detail. Also, she's gotten too skinny. I love her toned legs, but seriously it looks like her left one is going to snap in half. Sorry Carrie, this one was definitely a miss.

This dress was a asymmetrical disaster. High slit, one sleeve, v-neckline it just doesn't make sense. It's also way too big on her. She is just swimming in a nude colored parachute. Why? Plus she sang this ridiculous song about rather having weed than flowers. Stupid. I do like her new duet with Train. It's pretty good. Hunter Hayes looks a little dorky, but I can't tell if its his face in this picture or his outfit. Who cares, at least he's not singing about weed.

Again with the short tight dresses. I am over the performance gloves everyone keep wearing too. Your not boxers, just sing your song sans gloves. The material on the skirt looked cheap, a polyester/spandex blend for sure. Not impressed. She looked good in the dress, but the dress itself was a no-go for me.

Ah, the newcomers. You can spot them from a mile away on a red carpet. They always seem a little lost at their first awards show. Clearly, Dustin Lynch has not yet invested in a stylist. Country music award shows take a little more than adding a cowboy hat to your blazer and slacks. I liked his "Crank My Tractor" song. Or I did until I saw the sleezy music video. He doesn't seem like a genuine country artist. I wonder if he's ever even ridden a horse. I think maybe it's the white teeth, the hairless chest or the baby bare face that's throwing me off. You can tell he's not married. A good country girl wouldn't let her "cowboy" superstar out looking like this, even if he never has really ever cranked a tractor.

Her hair looked terrible in this outfit, very undone. The dress is pretty (laser cut lace is huge this season). The waist line and the length of the dress aren't very flattering. The shoes are much too sophisticated for this dress, plus they look way too small for her feet. They should've been open toed, strappy and with a pop of color or metal detailing. This fitted sleeveless look is not very flattering on her. I think it's really not a good look for a petite size lady like Kristen Bell. She doesn't look very confident in the dress either. That being said, if it were me and I had just had a baby in March I wouldn't even be trying to wear heals, so props to Kristen for that. Her body looks great, just not in this dress.

Sheryl Crow never seems to quite get it right, when it comes to fashion. I also am kind of bummed she's trying to recreate herself as a country music artist. Why not just develop your music where it is now, why push the country label? This dress is terrible and it just gets worse as you go down. It might've worked if it was a fitted fabric that stopped just above the knee and had different accessories...key word: MIGHT.

Taylor has really taken a turn for the worst. She's over the top. She almost seems a little smug these days, a little into herself. Her performance was energetic for sure, but definitely out of tune. Her choice of song "Red" was much to pop-star diva for the CMT stage. I thought her costume looked cheap. The belting on the front didn't even look like real leather. It was too much with the belting, the sequined bodice, the military style shoulder chains. It was all just a little excessive.
While I am expressing my current disappointment in Taylor Swift, I would like to say the girl needs to eat something. She's looked sickly thin on the red carpet at tonight's award show. I get there's a lot of pressure in the industry to be thin, but I also get she has millions of girls looking up to her. She needs to step it up and create a healthier body image for those girls looking up to her. When your head looks too big for your body you know you have a problem.
