Gatsby (fashionista of the 1920s)

I have been in a fashion-induced trance, since seeing "The Great Gatsby" in theaters last weekend. This movie is AMAZING!!! The set designs are out of this world, the acting is enchanting and the costume design is like nothing I've ever seen.  I watched the film in wonderment.

Carey Mulligan stars as Daisy, the object of Mr. Gatsby's infatuation...or was it love? Guess you'll have to go see the movie and find out :-) I've never paid much attention to Carey Mulligan as far as the world of Hollywood goes. I've seen the British actress star in Pride & Prejudice (the Keira Knightley version) and "An Education." She was okay in both movies, but she always seemed kind of odd to me, of course that was before I saw her in "The Great Gatsby."

I was in awe of her the entire film. Her golden blonde hair (love this color on her way better than her usual brunette), porcelain skin, and chocolate drop eyes were so alluring. This movie will make her an even bigger Hollywood star, guaranteed.

I was also very impressed by Leonardo DiCaprio's performance. At one point in the movie he refers to his character's age as 32, which I could totally buy into (even though I know he's 38 in "real life"). He looked so good in this movie, I can't even explain it with words...see for yourself bombshells...

...told you so. My favorite thing about DiCaprio is he is more than just a good looking guy. He's a very talented actor. He portrays Gatsby's character is such a regal manner. I was blown away by him in this movie.

The two of them had amazing chemistry in the film:

Other than the entertaining storyline and incredible cast, I must say the costume design was my favorite aspect of the movie. Working with Miuccia Prada and Brooks Brothers,  legendary Australian costume designer Catherine Martin developed a work of art for "The Great Gatsby." Read about the design process and Martin's costume inspiration here at Vogue UK online. Some of my favorite looks of the movie:

I loved all the 1920s style hats in the movie, such clean lines
Daisy's romantic lace dress
Love the headpiece & the makeup!!!
Romantic textures
My favorite dress, covered in crystals....breathtaking!!!
Same dress with fur shrug (note the crystals fringed on the shrug)
Dress Detail (last one of this dress, I promise)

Not only was the clothing design for the set couture, but so was the jewelry. The jewelry was done by Tiffany & Co. and is available for sale (see entire Gatsby collection here). Makeup was by MAC Cosmetics. Here are some of my favorite pieces in the Tiffany's Collection "Jazz Age Glamour." I'll admit the prices are a little outrageous, but not if your last name is Gatsby...
Headpiece $200,000
One of my favorite looks of the 1920s: The Hand Ornament $75,000

Deco Bangle $140,000

Sapphire Ring $55,000
Daisy Brooch $50,000

Ring $385,000 (more than my house, both cars , my college education AND Corey's doctorate degree hahaha)

Sorry this post was so long...like I said I just couldn't get enough of the Gatsby style. I urge all you bombshells to go out and see this movie. You will not be disappointed!!!

Be Bold,
Be Brave,
Be Beautiful,
