The BoiseBombshell Birthday Update

I know it's been a century since I last posted...okay maybe only a week, but I still feel bad. School has been ridiculous the past couple weeks. I feel like I'm still trying to catch up from our brief Vegas vacation. I have a research paper to write, another 10 page paper on top of that, 3 presentations and two exams to study for, plus I've been trying to figure out my class schedule for next term. I register tomorrow!

Despite all this chaos, I managed to have a fabulous birthday last Saturday with my husband, mom and little sister (they drove over from Oregon just for my birthday!). We got our nails done at EZ Nail Spa in the morning (we all did the shellac gel nail and once you shellac you never go back!) and ran around town, then went to a delicious dinner at Asiago's in Downtown Boise.

Aren't these boots fabulous!?! They were my birthday gift from my parents. The dress is rather short I know, hence the tights. I figured I'm still relatively young, so short dresses are okay for now. I bought it at H&M in Vegas for under $30. The purse is from Pink in downtown Boise.

While my mom was in town, I took full advantage of her hair skills and had her turn me back to my regular brunette self. Although I do love being a blonde bombshell, it feels good to be back under my typical brown locks.  Here's a before and after of the color. What do you think?

Makayla, baby bombshell, got her hair done too!In the past 2 years I've have an A line, long one length hair, I've gone blonde twice, I had bangs, and I cut it all off and one point to my chin! Never a dull moment, when it comes to my hair. Hair altering is a typical occurrence in the Landry family. If you don't like constant change, you won't like us much. :-)

We also went to a baby birthday party on my birthday. It was for my friend's little boy who is adorable! I couldn't resist in buying him his first pair of cowboy boots from Cavender's. How cute are these!?! Apparently, I'm on a boot craze...

My family got bombarded by the camera while they were here. Corey has gotten used to the paparazzi, but my mom and sister were a little taken back. I love this picture of me showing my mom how to pose for an outfit picture. She's really trying to take me seriously :-)

I love this picture of Makayla and I love love love the headband. Where'd she get it? It was a random Payless purchase.
Looks like Oscar found a new best friend. Loved her side ponytail this day. So cute! This was before we cut her hair. Now's it's really short, fun and flirty. Love it!
We went shopping one day and my mom, Makayla and I all bought the same pair of jeans at Ann Taylor for some $30ish dollars. They make you feel skinny and I love the dark blue denim. There's a seam down the front of the pant leg that is very chic. Don't worry we took turns, we didn't all wear them on the same day :-)
I got the Target watch I've been dreaming about for my birthday from my in-laws! Isn't it amazing!?! It's the one I had previously blogged about, click here to see post.
That's all for now, back to studying. Stay tuned for some fabulous bombshell bedroom updates...I'm referring to the decor in our room, geesh ;-). I finally got curtains and Corey finished the shutters and the nighstands. It looks great! Check back soon! Happy Halloween (even though it's this bombshell's least favorite holiday).

A Bubbleless Bath & A Shopping Spree

I am one beat bombshell. With a new job, new dog and new assignments for school there has been very little "me time" these past couple weeks. This weekend I found the remedy to my busy schedule at the mall and in the bath with a glass of red wine. I also got to go out for happy hour and to the movies for "Pitch Perfect"with some friend. I probably never would have agreed to go, if I hadn't read Pink Lou Lou's comments on the movie first. I ended up loving the movie, I laughed so hard, we all did (even the guys). As long as you go in knowing it's going to be a little dorky, you'll end up loving it too. The vocal talent in the movie was amazing. "Aca-Awesome!" I absolutely adore Anna Kendrick! Brittany Snow is stunning as a red head in this movie! Though the character "Fat Amy" played by Rebel Wilson, really makes the movie.

My shopping spree was somewhat spontaneous. I was only planning to hit up a baby store for a gift and Banana Republic, but somehow I managed to be gone for 4 hours...ooops :-) I ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of pants, a sweater, a dress, a top for Vegas and some Pottery Barn goodies. I felt it'd be less fun to post all the pictures of my finds at once, so I will spread them out through the week. I got to enjoy a nice fall beverage from Dutch Bros. during my shopping spree, a pumpkin spice latte...yummm (a new BoiseBombshell favorite). Though I feel like the prices went up, $3.25...still cheaper than Starbucks ;-) My apologies to the pretty green topless mermaid.

Seems it is Sunday, I have a confession to make...I hate bubble-baths. Yeup, I said it. I know, I know what kind of bombshell hates bubble-baths? But I believe every bombshell should stay true to who they are and what they love/hate and this one hates bubble-baths. Why? Well... #1 it prevents you from being able to wash your hair (unless you wash it under the facet and then there's the risk of hitting your head, straining your neck, etc.). #2 It usually irritates my skin and makes it feel dry and itchy. #3 Bubbles are cold. The water can be nice and warm, but bubbles never heat up, a tragedy I think. #4 It's hard to get all the bubbles off, when you're ready to get out of the tub. #5 It makes getting out of the tub a hazard because it's so slippery. Stupid bubbles.

Another guilty pleasure? New episodes of Desperate Housewives have been posted on Netflix, finally! I've already watched way to many episodes. I don't know why I even watch this show, but like any other useless television it's addicting (Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Say Yes to the Dress, Real Housewives of {insert any city in America here}, Grey's Anatomy, CHEER! on CMT, Gossip Girl....and the list goes on).

Guess what else?!? My new GiGi Hill bag and wallet arrived last week. I'm not sure what caused me to go with the doctor's bag design, perhaps I was inspired by my new job :-) Nevertheless I love it! Love the colors, love the storage, love love love!

So much storage in this thing! Could almost use it like a clutch. Note the black and white paisley interior!
Love the black and brown color scheme. Note the black leather has and etched floral design.

Overall it was a successful weekend I'd say. I am so in love with our new little dog, Oscar. He cracks me up. He won't walk on the sidewalk if it's wet, he likes to sleep on his back with his belly exposed, he doesn't like being directly on the floor, he washes he own face and he will sit and wait to eat his treats until we get home from work.

He's awake here and rather annoyed that I'm taking his picture.
We decided he looks like a furbie/gremlin/ewok/eskimo/old man combination of sorts (a true mut) :-)
One final note. I heard this song the other day in my car and I started cracking up. It's by a newer country artist, Kristen Kelly (with a name like that she's bound to be famous). Check it out, it's called "Ex-Old Man." Love! I've already listened to it 3x today! you can get it on iTunes for $0.69!!!

Enjoy!!!

Fashion's Night Out - Recap

Even though I was exhausted after going to classes all day, attending a human resource meeting for my new job and running errands, I forced myself to make an appearance at Downeast Basics for Fshion's Night Out last Thursday. I am sure glad I did!

Fashion Kellie, a local personal stylist, blogger and journalist for Fusion magazine, was there (looking fabulous as always). She was pretty occupied with customers the entire time, so I didn't get to talk to her much. However, she did compliment the headband I made (pictured below).  Snaps for that! haha I kept my look simple with a black silk Banana Republic blouse, my skinny jeans, gold accents and my handmade headband.

You can tell I barely saw the sun this summer...yikes!

In honor of Fashion Kellie and FNO, Downeast Basics had food & drinks, a pretty good overall set up.

Downeast Basics revealed their September line at FNO too! I loved the "front flower sweater" in sequioa.
Front Flower Sweater - $26.99
I actually ended up buying this sweater on FNO. I couldn't resist the detailed and of course the fall color was to die for! Unfortunately, I went back the next day and exchanged it. Oops!  I absolutely loved the sweater and the color, but the flower part was too heavy. I found that the weight of the flower pulled on the fabric and anytime you would try to bend over the whole shirt would drop open, which created a problem. I'm not a big "expose your entire bra to the public" kind of girl. :-) Well maybe in Vegas...totally kidding! I did love that sweater though. I wish it had cooperated better, or I had a job that involved no moving or bending over of any kind. hahha I exchanged the sweater for 2 shirts, which were only $5 each. That's right bloggies $5 a shirt!!!

Downeast Basics ONLY $5!
Downeast Basics ONLY $5!
I also bought a Downeast Basic necklace, during Fashion's Night Out. It was less than $7 and I can already tell it was an EPIC purchase! It was discounted special just for FNO, but you can now get it for $9.99, still not bad. I love love love it! It has a chair, a key and a jewel (of course I needed a little sparkle). It's also on a mixed-pearl chain and pearls faux or real are a BoiseBombshell favorite!!!

Trio of Trinkets Necklace - $9.99

Overall, I feel it was a successful 4th annual Fashion's Night Out. Minus the Paul Frank drama in West Hollywood, how ridiculous! Hopefully Paul Frank issues a meaningful apology sometime soon, instead of giving absurd excuses... Anyway, I hope Boise pulls off an even bigger Fashion's Night Out next year. It should fall on a Friday next year, so that'll help. Until next time....

BoiseBombshell MIA

School & travel has left this BoiseBombshell with little time to blog. I have yet to fully enjoy all the pages of "The September Issue" of Vogue, sigh. Now that means I must be really really really busy, if I can't make time for Vogue. :-)

Last weekend we went back to Oregon to visit our families. My husband and his family had not all been together since June 2011, when his little brother got married. That's the one downside of living 6 hours away. Needless to say we all met up last weekend and had a wonderful time! My niece is a girl after my own heart. Halfway through dinner we realized she had been out of sight for a while and I found her rummaging through my purse, face full of lipstick. I must admit, if I were her I wouldn't done the same thing. She's too precious to get mad at. We got to spend time with our nephew too, who I swear is going to be taller than Corey and I within the next year or so, although that's not hard to do. We're both pretty short. On our Labor Day Weekend we even got to got to Crater Lake with my parents. My husband lived in Oregon his entire life, before college and he had never been, according to him. According to his mother he has, but that trip is still up for debate. Corey tends to forget anything that happened prior to high school. Seriously. The lake was AMAZING! It's 5 miles across! I have never seen such a miraculous color blue. I kept telling everyone it was the perfect toe-nail polish color, haha. What can I say? Once a bombshell always a bombshell.

Mom & I, yes this is my hiking outfit

Another exciting event in the DuPont house? Puppy talk! We've been thinking about getting one for a while, but haven't fallen in love yet. Well, I did fall in love with this one morkie, but he was $700, so moving on...One of my sister-in-laws, Adina,  has been on a mission to find the perfect dog for my husband and I. She volunteers at an animal shelter in Hood River, Oregon and is constantly texting me pictures of the latest shelter puppies. Of course I'm really picky and have told her "no" to ever single one, until yesterday when she sent me pictures of this fuzzy guy.
Adina & The Fuzz Ball :-)

Oh my goodness! I don't usually have a soft spot for pets of any kind, not even fish, but I do love this one. he's a poodle mix, which would be perfect for Corey's allergies and I think he's just the right size for us. Nothing is official yet, but we're hoping for the best :-)

On a side note, while we were in Oregon we booked a trip to Vegas for October! My husband has 2 brothers (one older, one younger, just like me, but I have sisters) who are both married and we've all been wanting to go to Vegas together for over a year. We finally agreed on a weekend and booked the trip. I've never been to Vegas, so I'm super excited. We'll be there October 12-15th and I'm thinking the weather will be perfect. I can't wait to channel my slutty/sparkly side of style. haha

We're going camping this weekend, NOT a BoiseBombshell favorite, but it makes my husband happy, so I'll go. Next week I have 2 paper due and I'm hosting a baby shower Saturday, then we're booked on the 22nd. Our next "do-nothing" weekend isn't until September 29th, when we might go pick up the fuzz ball. Fingers crossed! :-)

Did I mention that I got a new job at a private family practice in Boise? I originally interviewed in May and they offered me the job, but then ended up switching the days they needed me, which didn't work with my school schedule. So then I tried rearranging my class schedule, but that didn't work either. In the end I had to turn down the offer. Last week one of the physicians called me to offer me the job again and said they arranged their schedule to meet my school needs. Praise the LORD!!! I am so thrilled for this opportunity. I start next Thursday, the 13th.

I do enjoy being busy. I feel blessed to have so much going on, but it does make me neglect my blog...and my homework. haha

Don't forget the season premiere of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team is tomorrow on CMT! http://www.cmt.com/show/dallas_cowboys_cheerleaders/season_7/series.jhtml. And New York Fashion Week is underway until the 13th. I'm looking forward to newcomers like Holmes & Yang showing on the 12th and others like Noon by Noor tomorrow at noon. Stay up-to-date on the schedule by going to http://www.mbfashionweek.com/schedule.
